Lyrics

When I got home one night, I saw my worries there
My old man was gone and Ma was too stoned to care
I looked to world; I saw the truth with just a glance
Those pricks in the fancy cars stole our chance

They got no excuse to tread on the land of the living
So I broke out and lashed on them cars on the brink of the evening

The fires were beautiful and I was drained of all despair
But when I got home, my old man was gone and Ma was too stoned to care

When I rose from bed, I recalled what held me back
I had no prospects and my schoolin’ was out of whack
Then I saw the news; Some kid was full of glee
He made it big with the cash that he must’ve stole from me

Then I tracked him down and beat him within an inch of death
I stripped his house and fled until I was scarce of breath

The riches sparkled in my eyes and my pockets were so damn fat
But when I got home, I had no prospects and my schooling was out of whack

I got home today; I cried until I slept
I wondered why my efforts had no effect
Was it not enough: the fires and all the cash?
Should I burn the world and rebuild on the ash?

So I ran from home and burned the nearest church to the ground
Then I wanted more; “To the ‘burbs!” I screamed in a striving bound

But halfway there, the Blues had me in their sights
And when I spun to look, my body was gone and there was nothing but the light
